We, at St Kevin’s Primary School, Cardiff, educate in the faith tradition of the Catholic Church, acknowledging the dignity and nurturing the potential of each person (student, parent and staff member) within the context of community.
At St Kevin’s we value students’ curiosity and promote logical and critical thinking. To promote literacy and artistic skills the children are encouraged to develop their skills by being involved in competitions from outside sources. Children perform for parents and the wider community in assemblies, cultural festivals and the Abermain Eisteddfod. We are also open to competitions in Mathematics, English, Media Studies and Art as well as having interaction with other schools for academic and sporting activities.
We help students to develop a pride in being Australian within a world community. We share our diverse cultural heritage through classes in German. We encourage parental (and grandparent) support in carrying out our Reading Programme and specific classroom activities. The children are encouraged to look after the environment and enjoy working in our garden and our recycling programme.
The motto of our school being “Caritas” challenges all to ensure that pastoral care is totally interwoven into every facet of school life. In a school animated by the Spirit of Christ the discipline to correct any wrong doing does not destroy the love and care held for the child.
