Education VICÂ introduces Department Of Resource Management And Geography - The University Of Melbourne in Parkville, for all your education and learning needs.
The merging of the School of Resource Management from MSLE and Geography staff from the Arts Faculty in 2008 resulted in the creation of the Department of Resource Management and Geography. Combining disciplines in Geography, Resource Management, and Horticulture, our expertise lies in investigating the complex processes that shape our world by combining the study of the physical and social sciences, and considering the impact of existing systems on the environment and people.
We are tackling some of the planet’s most pressing issues, including: Green infrastructure in cities; Impacts of green spaces on human health; Risks to human security, hunger, conflict and water stress; Effects of climate change on trees and landscapes; Interactions between society, policy and climate science; Political ecology of natural resource management; the magnitude and loss of global biodiversity; and the experience of public and private spaces in the inner city.
Burnley and horticulture are synonymous in Victoria and our researchers are located at both the Burnley and Parkville Campuses. In 2011, the Department reaches the milestone of 120 years of horticulture at Burnley, while 2010 marks the 50th anniversary of Geography at the University.
Our research activity draws on the expertise of our academics, specializing in the areas of cultural geography, ecology, geomorphology, horticulture, human geography, hydrology and environmental studies. Such diversity of expertise supports collaboration in existing and innovative research projects, provides excellent supervision, and may extend your academic network to include relevant partnerships.
Welcome to Department Of Resource Management And Geography - The University Of Melbourne one of the popular educators in your Parkville area. Our aim is help you in your learning journey.
We endeavour to celebrate each other’s uniqueness by providing opportunity for all and to develop a culture that identifies that the journey towards excellence is often paved with trial and error, risk taking, learning from mistakes, flexibility and adaptability. We believe that encouraging students to take ownership of the learning is critical in achieving the best learning outcomes and that implicit in this concept is that students learn their own areas of strength and areas of development, through useful and explicit feedback.
