Mount Ousley Public School is situated in a very quiet area in the northern suburbs of Wollongong. The school's mission statement is "Realising potential through achievement, self-worth and respect". In working towards this, Mount Ousley PS places emphasis on developing all children to achieve their very best across all of the Key Learning Areas. In addition student welfare programs focus on the development of self-esteem and the recognition of the rights of others. Literacy and numeracy programs are a high priority. Vertical streaming of students in Years 1-3, in literacy, ensures that all students are provided with the necessary basic skills in talking, listening, reading and writing.
