Hannam Vale Public School is a small rural school, which was established in 1892. It is located 12 kilometres west of the Pacific Highway, approximately half way between Taree and Port Macquarie. The school is situated in a very productive rural valley, traditionally involved in dairy farming and horticulture. Today rural properties include dairy farms, orchards, beef cattle and small mixed farming enterprises. The hospitality industry has also expanded. The school has a long history of community involvement and has a very strong and active P&C. In 2013 , two multi-stage classes operate, K-2 and 3-6. There is a staff allocation for teaching principal, temporary teacher, administration manager and general assistant.
